Hi, I’m Candace and I am a Maximalist.
Yes, that is a real word because when I typed it, Word didn’t put a small red line under it. But seriously, I like things. Pretty things, fun things, decorative things, literally ALL. THE. THINGS. I don’t consider myself a hoarder. However, if there’s ever a national home storage Tetris championship, I’m winning hands down. So naturally I wanted to begin this blog site telling you how you don’t need anything–haha. YOU REALLY DON’T NEED ANYTHING (that was more me speaking to me than it was for any of you)! But I am not talking about physical things right now. I am talking about doing the thing you have been putting off for weeks, months, years because you have been waiting until *insert random excuse*. Again, I am more so talking to myself right now. I pretty much rebuilt an office, made a blog site, and purchased a desktop with all the accessories only to make about one million excuses not to write this post.
I was worried about being too vulnerable, but also not vulnerable enough. Too conversational, but also not grammatically correct. Too funny to lose the message but not funny enough to keep your attention. I was worried about finding time to write, content to post, gaining followers, and staying on the ever-changing trends we all see on social media. In my procrastination I got the urge to just do it. I put my phone down, went to the newly designed office, and began to write. So that’s how we literally got to this moment.
The funny thing is I always knew what I wanted to say. I wanted to start this blog the same way I live my life; I wanted to inspire you to do the thing you are putting off no matter how big or small that thing is. I wanted to let you know that you already have the content, strength, time, resources, creativity, imagination, and inspiration you need to do anything you put your mind to. As cliche as it sounds, the only thing getting in your way is you.
As you will notice in this blog, I love home décor. I love watching a blank space become a real-life canvas of colors and textures. I’ve had friends and family ask me REPEATEDLY to help them decorate their spaces and I never felt I could do them the same justice I’ve accomplished for my own home. I felt like I needed more practice, more followers, and more exposure. The reality is I’ve had plenty decorating my own spaces for over 10 years, it only takes one follower to have an audience, and my décor has had exposure from everyone from my favorite influencer, Karlee Gail Bowman, to my favorite American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. So welcome to my small spot on the internet where I can share curated spaces, recipes, Amazon finds, fun photography and so much more. I am so glad I finally got out of my own way and mind and decided to follow my décor heart’s desire. At the end of the day, I’ve always had everything I needed and so do you.
